How did I first get into #scubadiving ?

Let me start by saying, I didn’t want to, I didn’t want to get into the water, as open water is something that I have been terrified of for a very long time. However, my husband has so much to do with my story.  When we booked our honeymoon in 2022 to Mexico, he told me that he was going to obtain his #padi #openwater diving certification so that he could go diving while we were away. To do this he booked his #PADI course with #Bespokescubadiving and qualified as an #openwater diver in November 2022.

After his first dive at the resort, he came back so excited, showing me the photos and videos that he had taken, part of me was nursing an anxiety attack and the other part of me was very jealous that I couldn’t go and see the breathtaking underwater sights for myself. #lovetodive #scubalife #marine

Following this many conversations about me getting in the water took place, and he finally convinced me to complete a discover scuba with Bespoke Scuba Diving.

Nervously, I went to the pool one fateful Wednesday, met the team and this is where my story and my love for #scuba starts. Instructing my #discoverscuba diving course, were Cerys and Zac (both had been made aware of how nervous I was) and what an introduction to this incredible sport I was given.

Everything was made extremely clear to me from what the equipment was for, how it worked and what we would do in the pool. I then got in the pool and could breathe underwater which was incredible and I thought “I think I want to do more of this”  #incredible #amazed #bubbleblowing

My next step was a conversation with #PADI #Coursedirector Paul, and that was me signed up for my PADI open water and #drysuit courses. I completed my courses at Vobster Quay over a weekend in June of 2023, and whilst I didn’t find this easy, I made it – I was a qualified diver. So much of this as a result of the support and encouragement, that I received from the entire Bespoke team, I knew I could and wanted to be better and do more.

I have now completed many courses with Bespoke, Many weekends diving. Each training weekend filled with, encouragement, guidance and an untold amount of laughing. I am now a PADI #MasterScubaDiver, and for me – I cant stop – I have recently started my first professional course, PADI Dive Master. #padipro #divemaster #livingthedream

PADI Rescue Diver Course in Progress

Some of my favourite courses have been #DPV, going around on an underwater “scooter” was amazing! #Wreck, being able to safely go into wrecks and explore is awesome. Probably the toughest course I have done so far has been the PADI Rescue Course. This course is both mentally and physically tough, but knowing what do in the event of a diver emergency is very rewarding, and gave me more of a sense of confidence in the water.

I honestly believe that if I can learn and love to dive anyone can and I could not have been luckier to be introduced to such a wonderful team of scuba diving professionals than those at Bespoke Scuba Diving.
